I was born and raised in Maryland and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Maryland is my home, so I know a thing or two about the sights and activities that make this state so special!

Get Creative at Easy Little Plants
I have to mention my workshops here- I mean, weekend activities are kinda my whole things- or one of my four main things, at least. Weekend activities, plants, cuteness, and axolotls (the adorable underwater salamanders that inhabit the shop's aquariums) round out the full list.
You don't need a green thumb to enjoy some creative fun with plants, in a super cozy and welcoming space. All ages are welcome, including toddlers! Experience a beginner-friendly guided workshop, with fairy lights and mushroom lanterns overhead. I'll teach you how to make a terrarium ecosystem in a jar- with unlimited decorations!

Go Shopping in Downtown Frederick
The cutest local shops illuminate a beautiful Main Street. If you're a fan of pretty clothes, yummy food, and unique homewares, you'll have plenty to look at! It's a nice low-key activity where you'll get plenty of time to walk and chat.

Get Inspired at the Visionary Arts Museum
This is far from your average art museum experience. I'd describe this place as magical, vibrant, and full of joy. It's the type of museum you can take kids to without them getting bored.
It's not just paintings on walls. It's all sorts of colorful materials transformed in ways you never would've imagined. Plus, the gift shop is full of wonderful trinkets. You've gotta see it for yourself!

Play Some Games at Round One
I've got 3 seriously nice stuffed animals that I won from the claw machines at this place. I remember going here for my little brother's birthday and feeling like it was the best day of my life (and it wasn't even my birthday!)
Round One is full of Japanese arcade games, including lots of skill-based claw machines and a ton of music-themed games. I didn't even try earning tickets. I was happy with my huge (and seriously soft) stuffed animals, some yummy seasoned French fries, and the chance to rock out on Music Diver. Apparently, there's bowling, too!

Traverse the Treetops at Sandy Spring Adventure Park
I wonder if this is what squirrels feel like? One of my favorite memories involves going to the night climb at Adventure Park with one of my best friends.
The trees were all lit up and I felt super cool making my way through each obstacle. The atmosphere is amazing, and it's another one of those things where you get plenty of time to chat and catch up. The ziplines are tons of fun too!
